Two foreign tourists who went missing during camping were rescued in the forests of Da Nang

A hike in the Bà Nà mountain area turned into a rescue operation for two foreign tourists. Citizens of the United States and Germany went camping near the Hang Gió stream, but during a walk they lost their bearings and were unable to find their way back on their own.
The area where the travelers went missing is characterized by difficult terrain, dense vegetation, and hard-to-pass forest sections. In such conditions, even a small deviation from the route can lead to disorientation, especially if the tourists are not sufficiently familiar with the area.
After information about the missing foreigners was received, a search was organized involving local law enforcement and rescue units. The operation lasted more than a day.
On the morning of October 14, 2026, both tourists were found in the forest. Despite spending a long time in a hard-to-reach area, they did not suffer serious injuries. The rescued tourists had only minor abrasions.
After the operation was completed, Da Nang police reminded the public about the dangers of independent hikes on unfamiliar forest routes. The city’s mountain areas attract tourists with picturesque landscapes, streams, and camping opportunities, but not all trails are suitable for unprepared travelers.
Particularly dangerous are sections without clear markings, steep slopes, and places where stable mobile service is unavailable. At the same time, navigation apps do not always reflect the real conditions of forest routes.
Tourists planning hikes and camping in the mountains of Da Nang are advised to follow basic safety measures: - Whenever possible, go to unfamiliar areas with a local guide. - Study the route, its difficulty, and the weather forecast in advance. - Do not rely exclusively on Google Maps and other online maps. - Do not go alone into hard-to-reach forest areas. - Inform relatives or the administration of your accommodation about your planned route and return time. - Bring a charged phone, a power bank, water, and basic first aid supplies. If during the hike it becomes clear that the route has been lost, it is better not to continue moving at random. If possible, contact rescue services, provide your coordinates, and wait for help in a safe place.
