In Khanh Hoa, inspections of foreigners have been intensified: 42 fines and 15 deportations

The police of Khanh Hoa Province, which includes Nha Trang, have stepped up enforcement of immigration laws for foreign nationals. Inspections have been carried out since early September 2026 and affect both foreigners themselves and organizations providing them with accommodation.

According to law enforcement authorities, 42 foreign nationals have been held administratively liable, and deportation measures from Vietnam have been taken against 15 people.

Among the identified violations are overstaying the permitted period of stay, working without the necessary documents, and engaging in activities inconsistent with the declared purpose of entry.

The police are paying special attention to foreigners who continue to remain in the country after the expiration of their visa or visa-free stay, as well as those who use tourist documents for activities requiring a different legal basis.

The inspections have also affected the hotel sector. For violations of registration and notification requirements regarding the stay of foreign guests, 14 hotels and other accommodation facilities received administrative fines. The total amount of penalties exceeded 420 million dong.

In Vietnam, the receiving party is obliged to notify the competent authorities about the temporary residence of foreigners. This applies not only to hotels but also to other accommodation facilities, including rental housing. Therefore, foreigners renting apartments or houses for a long term should make sure that the property owner has completed the necessary registration procedures.

At the same time, registration at the place of residence does not replace a visa, work permit, or other documents required for lawful stay and certain activities in Vietnam.

Foreigners living in Khanh Hoa are advised to regularly check the validity of their permitted stay, arrange the necessary documents in a timely manner, and ensure that their actual activities correspond to their immigration status.

Working without the necessary permits or violating the permitted period of stay may lead not only to administrative fines but also to forced removal from the country, depending on the circumstances of the case.

The increased inspections are aimed at identifying violations of immigration law and strengthening control over the stay of foreign nationals in the province.
