Navigation on the Saigon River will be temporarily restricted due to the construction of a pedestrian bridge

Construction of the new pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River is entering one of its most important stages. To install the main steel structure, water traffic on the section of the river near Bach Dang Wharf in central Ho Chi Minh City will be temporarily restricted.
The restrictions are scheduled for three days in October, but they will not be in effect around the clock. According to the published schedule, vessel traffic in the work area will be closed: - October 19 — from 13:00 to 19:00. - October 21 — from 02:00 to 18:00. - October 22 — from 02:00 to 18:00. The temporary closure of the waterway is necessary to ensure safety during the movement and installation of large metal structures. Vessel owners and water transport operators are advised to take the restrictions into account when planning routes.
The new pedestrian bridge will connect central Ho Chi Minh City with the Thu Thiem area on the opposite bank of the river. The project is intended to improve pedestrian accessibility between the two areas and create an additional route for residents and tourists.
As of mid-October, the bridge is estimated to be about 90% complete. One of the key stages will be the installation of the main steel arch weighing about 3,400 tons, scheduled for October 21.
Installing such a massive structure requires special equipment, precise positioning, and additional safety measures. That is why vessel traffic in the construction area will be suspended during the work.
The project cost is estimated at about US$38 million. After construction is completed, the bridge will become a new pedestrian link between the central Ho Chi Minh City waterfront and the developing Thu Thiem area.
For residents and visitors, the restrictions will primarily affect water routes passing through the construction zone. Before traveling by river transport, it is recommended to check the latest schedule and possible route changes.
