In Da Nang, four foreigners who were internationally wanted were detained

Da Nang police conducted an operation to detain four foreign nationals who were on the international wanted list. Among those detained were three South Korean citizens and one Mongolian citizen, who were being sought by the law enforcement authorities of their countries on suspicion of committing crimes.

The arrests were carried out in two stages — on September 29 and October 5, 2026. During the operation, Vietnamese law enforcement officers established the whereabouts of the wanted foreigners and took measures to detain them.

According to the police, the detainees were involved in cases related to fraud and organizing illegal gambling. They were being sought through international law enforcement cooperation channels, including Interpol.

After the necessary procedures were completed, on October 7 and 8 all four were handed over to representatives of the law enforcement authorities of South Korea and Mongolia. Further procedural actions regarding the detainees will be carried out in accordance with the legislation of the respective states.

Da Nang police emphasized that the operation was part of efforts to identify foreign nationals attempting to hide from criminal prosecution in Vietnam.

Law enforcement authorities intend to continue cooperating with their foreign counterparts, exchanging information about wanted persons, and responding promptly to reports of their possible presence in the city.

Particular attention is being paid to preventing Da Nang from being used as a refuge for persons on the international wanted list. At the same time, the mere fact that a person has been declared wanted does not mean they are guilty — final decisions in criminal cases are made by the competent judicial authorities.
