A special visa-free regime for tourists from China has been introduced in Khanh Hoa Province
Special entry conditions for Vietnam have come into effect for tourists from mainland China. According to Government Resolution No. 325/NQ-CP dated October 12, 2026, Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports are allowed to visit Khanh Hoa Province without obtaining a visa, provided they meet the established requirements.
The new procedure will remain in effect until December 31, 2027. The maximum length of stay is 30 days.
The main feature of the program is that it is intended for organized tourist trips, not for independent entry by individual travelers.
To use the special visa-free regime, several conditions must be met: - Group composition: at least two people. - Purpose of the trip: tourism according to a pre-arranged itinerary. - Arrival: by direct flight from mainland China to Cam Ranh International Airport. - Departure: through the same airport. - Length of stay: no more than 30 days. At the same time, the program is limited to Khanh Hoa Province. It does not grant the right to travel freely throughout Vietnam under this special visa-free regime.
An important exception concerns holders of Hong Kong and Macau passports. The new rules do not apply to them, even if the trip is organized through a travel company and meets the other conditions of the program.
The introduction of the special regime is aimed at developing international tourism in Khanh Hoa, home to popular resort destinations including Nha Trang and Cam Ranh. China remains one of the important inbound tourism markets for the region, and direct flights make it possible to organize trips without transfers through other cities in Vietnam.
For travel companies, the new rules create additional opportunities for organizing group tours. At the same time, travelers need to make sure in advance that their itinerary, documents, and travel conditions comply with the requirements of the special regime.
Important: this is not about abolishing visas for all Chinese citizens throughout Vietnam, but about a separate program for a specific category of tourists visiting Khanh Hoa.
